One of these days, I’ll actually put some proper time into GTA V’s online mode, GTA Online. It has all the bits of Grand Theft Auto that I like, but it feels like a chore having to learn all the intricacies of online play.
The latest update actually sounds like a great addition, and it’ll keep players busy until the inevitable next update, which will keep them busier, until finally we reach the launch day of GTA VI.
So, the latest update, what does it bring to GTA Online? The headliner seems to be the new delivery missions called Safeguard Deliveries, which have you ferrying packages across the city, all while thugs and gangs try to stop you.
Not gonna lie, I like the sound of that.
You can find all the details on the Rockstar Games blog, as usual, but if you’re too lazy to click over there, I can break things down here.
Now you’re a delivery driver, you’ll accept a contract at Gruppe Sechs, or Bobcat Security, and then be given a reinforced Brute Stockade to drive around.
Once you’ve got your delivery point, head out and try to deliver the goods, all while nefarious villains (kind of like yourself) try to nab the package.
Rockstar Games notes that you can “complete three Safeguard deliveries to complete the Weekly Challenge and get the Hands On Car Wash Overalls, plus earn a boosted bonus of GTA$200,000”.
On top of this, there are a bunch of new cars available in the new update, as well as the normal bonuses to RP and GTA$
GTA 6 be damned, GTA 5 just got a major official update
Move over Grand Theft Auto VI, because a brand new official update from Rockstar Games for Grand Theft Auto V has added, fixed and otherwise improved a whole bunch of stuff people have been asking for since the game first dropped.
Well… if you’re an Enhanced Edition owner, that is

As revealed on the official Rockstar Games site earlier this week, Grand Theft Auto V’s Title Update 1.71 just dropped, for both Legacy and Enhanced Edition owners.
Now the thing you’ve probably already heard of is the new GTA Online content, like the Money Laundering Operation missions and the Hands On Car Wash business. Regardless of which edition of GTA V you own, you’ll already have access to this new content.
However, if you’re on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X or PC, you’ll also be getting something very exciting in your update.
Current gen players of GTA V who received the “Enhanced Edition” upgrade can now access new “Enhanced Lighting Enhancements” which gives players the option to enable “high resolution ray traced reflections” and “a second ray bounce”.
What does that mean, exactly? Well your lighting effects just got even prettier, basically.
Neat. That being said, a few of the commenters on PC have noted that the new options do have a negative impact on your framerate, so you mileage may vary in this respect.
Jeez, we’re gonna need a PC manufactured by NASA to be able to run GTA VI, aren’t we?

GTA 5 getting major update we’ve begged for since 2013
Rockstar games just accidentally leaked that a pretty huge, much-requested feature is finally landing in Grand Theft Auto V’s online mode, GTA Online, and fans are feeling a little bit teary-eyed and melancholy about the whole thing.
As spotted by user @Floorball__ over on Twitter, the latest update for GTA Online features references to another, future update that was left over in the code, and it’s promising something big.
Quite literally big, I mean, because there are several references to “mansions” in the code.
You have earned an exclusive discount on a future property purchase with Prix Luxury Real Estate,” reads one line. “They will be in contact again soon when properties become available.”
There’s also another flag that directly refers to “MANSION_TEASER”, so, yeah. You can’t get more blatant than that.
Purchase able mansions are something that Grand Theft Auto V fans have been begging for since the game first dropped, so they must be thrilled, right?
Well, based on the comments over on the r/gtaonline subreddit, they’re actually feeling pretty melancholy about the whole thing.
Actually, maybe this is the endgame for GTA Online in Los Santos?” commented user PapaXan.
“We finally get to retire to a mansion after our years of robbing and murder.”
“Honestly, it’s weird to think that the December update could be the last. All of those years of regular DLC drops coming to an end is such an odd feeling”, replied user delta_SB15.
“Regardless, I think that while they could have been added a lot sooner, it would be nice to finally see mansions added (if it turns out to be true).”
Huh. Now I’m feeling kinda bummed out about the whole thing, too.
On the plus side, hopefully, this means that mansions will come as standard in GTA 6’s online mode. Would seem kinda weird for them to add something to GTA 5 that isn’t going to be present in GTA 6 at launch, especially this late in the game
GTA 6 release date update has fans lamenting original launch

GTA VI was originally supposed to release this year but was pushed back to 2026 in order to give the game the time it needs.
This was a good decision from Rockstar Games as while I’m sure the game would have been great it could have easily suffered the same fate as Cyberpunk 2077 had it been released in a buggy, unfinished state.
It sucked, but it was a necessary evil though now fans are expecting nothing short of perfection the game actually launches
Recently the CEO of Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, spoke about the delay in an interview with CNBC.
A clip of the interview was shared online where he downplays the delay, saying “It’s a pretty short delay, it’s less than 6 months.”
Fans have taken this clip and used it to divine what the original release date for GTA VI was, as it was something highly debated in the build-up to the game’s second trailer.
It’s now being speculated that “the original release date for this year was set really close to Christmas Day. So any past predictions that were predicting an early fall release are all now void.”
While you have to take it with a pinch of a salt fans are now lamenting how marvelous it would have been to have GTA VI as a Christmas present, with one fan saying “God damn a launch around Christmas would have been magical.”
Another added “six months before the 26th of May 2026 is on November 26th 2025. This is likely the approximate original planned release date.”
Some PC players also chimed in to say they’re not “expecting to be waiting until 2027 or later” for their port of the game…
Part of me still wishes we could get GTA VI this year but it clearly wasn’t meant to be, hopefully the new release date of May 2026 is firmer.
GTA 6 fans revealed over new pricing update

GTA VI launches next year, and while that’s very exciting there’s unease on the game’s pricing.
We’re approaching a point in the game industry where the games are starting to become just as expensive as the hardware, with Xbox as a prime example of this as it’ll be raising the price of its first-party titles later this year.
There are ways to work around this, like waiting for sales or buying second-hand, but what about the games that you really need to play on day one, or just really want to.GTA 6 is one of those games I’m sure, but there are concerns that Rockstar Games will take advantage of its reputation and charge an absurd premium for the next Grand Theft Auto title, potentially $100.
However following a new update from 2K and Gearbox, studios behind the Borderlands series, that might not be the case. It’s been confirmed that Borderlands 4, which releases later this year, will cost $70 at launch, with special and collector’s editions costing as much as $100.
This is good news, especially amid concerns that Borderlands 4 would also be a game that costs $100 just for the basic version. Given that Gearbox is owned by Take-Two Interactive which also owns Rockstar Games it’d be safe to assume it’ll follow a similar pricing pattern for GTA VI, hopefully.
“So it’s safe to say that $70 should be the price for triple A games? I still think games should be $50, especially if they’re gonna do a whole DLC run” said one Borderlands fan in response to the news
Disclaimer = Don’t take my word for it though, as this is what the folks over on the r/nvidia subreddit have to say about the new update.
